It's Been 21 Years...

...since I met my beautiful friend, Colleen. We met when her parents invited my family over for dinner one weekend. Our father's were boyhood friends who attended the same summer camp way back when. We became friends instantly. With some people you just click and so is the case with Colleen and I. As in any relationship, we've had our fair share of ups and downs but through everything, we've only strengthened our bond. From our first sleepover in my parents basement watching Milo and Otis and laughing like we were drunk (faces covered in a green beauty mask) until this past weekend when we spent a much needed girl's weekend in New England...we've laughed more than we've cried. We've loved more than we've lost. We've been friends more than we've been enemies. You don't get very many opportunities in this life when you find someone who knows you inside and out and loves you anyway. In spite of yourself. All of your stupid idiosyncrasies, insecurities, dreams and visions for the future. Someone whom you call when you're having a bad day and you need them to talk you out of eating a bowl of ice cream. ;) Someone who you can be in the car with for 6 plus hours straight and never have a weird moment of awkward silence. Never a lack of anything to talk about. Shared sorrow. Shared joy. Shared lives. This past weekend was awesome...much needed. Both of us being full-time moms and living 2 plus hours apart, we haven't spent near the amount of time together in recent years as we would both like. Thankfully, we got a spur of the moment opportunity to go away this past weekend...and of all places...my FAVORITE - Massachusetts! One of my best friends and my favorite place on earth?! Yes, please! Life is good. Especially when you have THE BEST friends to share it with. And being oh so close to the Cape...well, it's just what dreams are made of, my friends. :)

Colleen...I love you. You are my very dear friend...you mean THE WORLD to me. Thank you for choosing me to be your friend. God sure has blessed us these last 21 years (thank GOD that we still look the same as we did back then - sheesh!). Can't think of many other people who I'd like to share life with. XO

  1. Great to have friends like that. The ones that can share all your ups as well as downs.
